A Chicago Electrician Who Suffered a Burn Injury from a Flash Fire While Doing Work at a Circle K Gas Station Awarded $3.7 Million By Jury In Personal Injury Lawsuit.

A jury in Cook County, Illinois has reportedly awarded a 55-year-old Local 134 electrician, who was injured in a flash fire at a Circle K gas station on East 95th Street, $3.7 million in damages in a burn injury lawsuit.

According to reports, the plaintiff electrician was in a fuel pit trying to repair a malfunctioning gas pump valve when sparks from his saw ignited, resulting in a flash fire that led to him suffering from, among other things, 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his wrist and arm that required several debridement and skin grafting procedures.

The plaintiff in the burn injury lawsuit reportedly asserted that defendants were negligent in failing to warn that the fuel pit was a confined space and in failing to have a safety plan in place. The trial lasted six days, with the jury finding the electrician partially at fault.
