Zantac Bladder Cancer & Kidney Cancer Lawsuit Filed in Florida Federal Court By Pennsylvania Resident.

An Allegheny County, Pennsylvania Resident Files Zantac Bladder Cancer & Kidney Cancer Lawsuit Against Defendants Boehringer Ingelheim, Sanofi, Chattem, Pfizer, and GlaxoSmithKline.

On March 30, 2020 a man residing in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania reportedly filed a personal injury lawsuit against the manufacturers and distributors of the heartburn drug known as Zantac in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, styled Donald Leon v. Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Sanofi US Services Inc., Chattem, Inc., Pfizer, Inc., and GlaxoSmithKline, LLC, Case No. 9:20-cv-80535 alleging, among other things, that he took Zantac for approximately eighteen (18) years and developed bladder cancer & kidney cancer.

According to the Zantac lawsuit complaint, Plaintiff used Zantac from approximately 2001 through 2019 and took over 600 mg per week.  According to the suit, in April 2018, Plaintiff was diagnosed with bladder cancer and kidney cancer.  The lawsuit asserts that exposure to Zantac (and the attendant NDMA) can cause bladder cancer and kidney cancer in humans and alleges that in certain mouse studies examining the carcinogenicity of NDMA through oral administration, animals exposed to NDMA developed cancer in the kidney and bladder, among others.

The Zantac cancer lawsuit reportedly brings a strict liability claim against Defendants for an alleged defective design, a strict liability claim against Defendants for an alleged failure to warn, a negligence claim against Defendants for an alleged failure to exercise reasonable care and ordinary care in the design, research, development, manufacture, testing, marketing, supply, promotion, advertisement, packaging, sale, and distribution of Zantac products and for alleged breach of express and implied warranties.

The Zantac kidney cancer & bladder cancer lawsuit complaint reportedly seeks actual or compensatory damages in such amount to be determined at trial, exemplary and punitive damages sufficient to punish and deter the
defendants, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest and costs including reasonable attorneys’ fees, court costs, and other litigation expenses.
