Jury Awards $6 Million Dollars to Family of Buffalo Center Iowa Long Term Care Resident In Nursing Home Lawsuit.
A Winnebago County District Court jury in Iowa has reportedly awarded $6 million dollars to the family of a woman who died in the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center Iowa. The Iowa wrongful death lawsuit, styled Estate of Darlene J Weaver, Case No. 02951 ESPR010728, reportedly alleged, among other things, that the nursing home failed to provide appropriate medical care, failed to prevent falls or other injuries, negligently hired personnel, inadequately trained staff, and covered up adult abuse, neglect, and/or negligence. The defendant reportedly denied that it had any responsibility for the woman’s death.
$6 Million Awarded in Iowa Nursing Home Lawsuit Over Death of Long Term Care Resident.
According to reports, the jury found that the nursing home was negligent and awarded the woman’s children $2 million for pain and suffering, $1 million for loss of mind and body, $1 million for loss of relationship and $2 million of punitive damages.
