Kentucky Zantac Lawsuit Filed By Plaintiff Who Claims She Suffered Liver Cancer and Stomach Cancer

A Madison County Kentucky Resident Files Zantac Liver Cancer and Stomach Cancer Lawsuit Against Defendants Boehringer Ingelheim, Sanofi, Chattem, Pfizer, and GlaxoSmithKline.

On March 6, 2020 a woman residing in Madison County Kentucky reportedly filed a personal injury lawsuit against the makers and distributors of Zantac/ranitidine heartburn medications in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, styled Vicki Sherbet v. Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Sanofi US Services Inc., Chattem, Inc., Pfizer, Inc., and GlaxoSmithKline, LLC, Case No.  9:20-cv-80459-RLR alleging, among other things, that she took Zantac for approximately eight (8) years and developed stomach and liver cancer.

According to the Zantac lawsuit complaint, in certain mouse, rat, hamster, and rabbit studies examining the carcinogenicity of NDMA through oral administration, animals exposed to NDMA developed certain cancers, including liver cancer. The Zantac lawsuit complaint also asserts that stomach cancer was observed in certain mouse, rat and hamster studies.

The Zantac liver and stomach cancer lawsuit reportedly asserts claims for strict liability (design defect), strict liability (failure to warn), negligence, breach of express warranties and breach of implied warranties.

The Zantac stomach and liver cancer lawsuit complaint reportedly seeks compensatory damages for pain, suffering, emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, and other non-economic damages, as well as economic damages in the form medical expenses, out of pocket expenses, lost earnings and other economic damages, punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, and costs including reasonable attorneys’ fees, court costs, and litigation expenses.
